K9 Wisdom

The other half of the Apples of Gold "Staff" is a very affectionate and lovable K-9 called Imani. Her life is rich because, unlike most dogs, she actually goes to "work" with various clients everyday.  She even has "clients" who have chosen the human therapist only because she has the K9 "therapist" on hand. Her following includes several human staff members, as well!

We can learn a great deal from our interactions and observations of animals. In fact, sometimes, we are more willing to "hear" what they have to say to us than we are willing to hear the words of another human being. Somehow, animals can slip right past our defenses. And that's not all. There is a great deal of research that supports the notion that interacting with animals can produce therapeutic benefits for both emotional and physical health. Petting an animal can relieve stress. Caring for your pet can help reduce depression. Just having an alert dog on the premises can reduce the anxiety and fear some people feel when alone.

Here, we will share lessons learned from our animal friends. Apples of Gold invites you, the reader, to share your own special stories of lessons learned from your pets, even if they are not canine! Simply email them to Apples of Gold, using the "Email" link to your left. Enjoy!
